‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 Episode 1 Highlights: Bullseye Returns as Fisk Tightens His Grip on New York

“Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2 Episode 1 has released today, and turns out the drama is only amping up as the war for New York intensifies. Titled “The Northern Star,” the episode takes the grounded tone of storytelling further ahead as the underbelly of New York is now unstable, with vigilantes standing up and Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) making sure he has a counter for them.

The first episode of the new season has set the stage for a dangerous new chapter, as Fisk cannot risk losing his control over the city. So as the war for power continues, here are the biggest highlights from the first episode of “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2.

Daredevil storms Fisk’s deadly weapons ship

The pilot episode of Season 2 opens with Daredevil, now fully back in form and action, attacking a cargo ship named “The Northern Star,” owned by Fisk’s controversial Freeport operation. The ship is secretly transporting military grade weapons, making it a key part of Fisk’s larger operation. Matt Murdock fights his way through the assassins onboard, making way for a brutal action sequence that sets the tone for the season right away.

But just before he can stop the operation, the crew is ordered to scuttle the ship. Matt quickly realises what they are about to do, but it is already too late. The ship goes down, taking the weapons and every possible clue with it, and that instantly turns the situation into a much bigger crisis.

Fisk’s Freeport mess spirals into a bigger crisis

Word about the chaos on “The Northern Star” spreads quickly, and Fisk soon learns that the cargo and everything on board are now sitting at the bottom of the river. This only makes matters worse for him, especially because the fallout of the incident threatens to expose much more than he would like.

Things get even more complicated when a CIA operative enters the picture. The operative is clearly tracking Fisk and seems to have a very specific agenda tied to the Freeport operation and the weapons shipment. This suggests that Fisk is no longer just dealing with vigilantes and city politics. There are now larger powers circling the same problem.

The superhero trials

Wilson Fisk’s hatred for vigilantes is now being weaponised through a full blown legal campaign labelled the “Superhero Trials.” The goal of these trials is simple: arrest masked heroes, throw them in prison, and make an example out of them in the name of restoring order to the city.

These cases are being evaluated by Heather Glenn, the psychiatrist who was previously attacked by Muse. One of the first people being evaluated is Swordsman, and the process quickly takes a disturbing turn when he causes Heather to experience a hallucination. As the episode unfolds, it becomes clear that these trials are nothing more than a carefully constructed façade. The outcomes seem to have already been decided, making the entire exercise more about optics and control than justice.

Cherry becomes the AVTF’s next target

As the episode progresses, former detective Cherry becomes one of Wilson Fisk’s latest targets, with the Anti Vigilante Task Force (AVTF) sent after him. His apartment is breached and he is dragged into an interrogation chair, with the task force trying to force him into revealing Daredevil’s whereabouts.

Matt arrives just in time, triggering another intense showdown between Daredevil and the AVTF. But the situation turns tragic when Cherry suffers a heart attack in the middle of the chaos. Matt now finds himself in a brutal situation where he must fight off the task force while also trying to save Cherry’s life.

And then comes the game changing moment. During the fight, the task force manages to overpower Daredevil and pin him to the ground. In the process, they rip off his mask, exposing the fact that Matt Murdock is the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.

Bullseye returns and changes everything

But the biggest moment of the episode arrives just when things seem impossible to recover from. Before the agents can move in further on Matt, a sniper from a distance starts taking them down one by one. And it is none other than Bullseye.

In case one does not recall, Dex aka Bullseye has been on the run since the previous season. But now he is back, and he makes sure Matt Murdock knows exactly who has saved him. That said, the episode offers no clarity yet on what Dex actually wants or why he has chosen this exact moment to return. Which only makes his comeback even more dangerous and unpredictable.

“Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2 Episode 2 and 3 will stream from March 31, 2026.
