‘Daayra’ Trailer Review: Kareena Kapoor Khan And Prithviraj Sukumaran Go Head-To-Head In A Dark Police Mystery
The trailer for “Daayra” opens a window into a tense investigation where the boundaries of justice are pushed to their absolute limits. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, the film is inspired by true events and explores the unsettling gray areas within the law enforcement system. At the center of this narrative are two powerful central figures who find themselves locked in an intense ideological clash.
Kareena Kapoor Khan plays DCP Ajooni Kohli, a fiercely righteous officer who functions strictly within legal parameters and systemic boundaries. Opposite her stands Prithviraj Sukumaran as DCP Raman Kumar, a righteously fierce cop who operates on a different frequency altogether. They represent the yin and yang of a delicate investigative process, bringing starkly contrasting personalities to a law enforcement system that rarely leaves room for personal compromises.
Their paths dramatically collide over a cold case that has remained unsolved for two years. An event involving a missing girl, and a subsequent controversial police encounter brings severe scrutiny upon DCP Raman Kumar. Kareena as Kohli relentlessly presses for answers about what truly occurred that night, accusing Kumar of being in this exact situation before and staging fake police encounters to hide the truth. While Kumar provides his side of the story and insists he acted within necessity, Kohli refuses to be fooled. He appears ready to conceal whatever it takes to prevent the truth from coming out, leading to a high-stakes standoff where she appears right and he seems undeniably wrong.
