‘Colony’ Teaser: Yeon Sang-Ho Directs Jun Ji-hyun, Ji Chang-wook in a Thrilling Zombie Apocalypse Movie

“Colony” and “Hope” are the two South Korean films that are going to Cannes 2026. Yeon Sang-Ho, who gave us the unforgettable film “Train To Busan,” (2016) is back with “Colony,” another zombie thriller. This time he has roped in top actors like Jun Ji-hyun (Gianna Jun) and Ji Chang-wook along with actors like Koo Kyo-hwan, Kim Shin-rok and Shin Hyun-been. While not much was known of the plot so far, but this time we have zombies who mimic human intelligence. They are transforming into a new species, which can end the world.

What’s hot
The new teaser of “Colony” is way better than the former one in terms of the scares. It looks like Jun Ji-hyun is deeply connected to the crisis in a manner similar to Gong Yoo’s role in “Train To Busan.” You get the feeling of dread as you realize how the zombies quickly begin to act like humans, a change that means death for every human. The background score and sound effects are absolutely top-notch. There are a couple of scenes you will definitely want to watch on the big screen. Like “Train To Busan,” the camerawork in this is also very impressive.

What’s not
We wish there was a bit more of Ji Chang-wook in the teaser. Also, this new teaser gives away a lot of the plot. While some might argue that it is immaterial in a zombie film, the plot’s suspense is lost.

Overall
Yeon Sang-Ho who has previously directed “Train To Busan” and “Peninsula: Train To Busan 2” is ready to show the world his third zombie film, “Colony.” He is also the director of the series, “Hellbound” on Netflix.

This latest teaser of “Colony” leaves a stronger impresion than the earlier one. Fans are keen to see Jun Ji-hyun, one of Korea’s top actresses in the movie. She is known for her action skills. With a few visuals promising classic zombie movie thrills, “Colony” looks like a worthy addition to his repertoire. It is part of the midnight screening at Cannes 2026.
