‘Bridgerton’ Spin-Off To Focus On Violet and Marcus’s Love Story, Teases Creator Shonda Rhimes

“Bridgerton” is one of the most successful shows for Netflix in recent times. People cannot get enough of the Regency romances full of layered characters navigating their way through love and life with humour and sass. Shonda Rhimes, the creator of “Bridgerton” has teased viewers on whose love story can make it to the screens in coming seasons. 

She was on Craig Melvin’s podcast where she said that the love life of “Bridgerton” matriarch Violet (Ruth Gemmell) could be explored in the near future. Violet Bridgerton is shown as a loving mother who is very keen to see her children settle down. With Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) marrying Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), she is in a very comfortable space. 
 

Rhimes said in the podcast, “I’ve always said that I thought if we were going to do something like that, Violet would be a great person to tell the story about. That’s a possibility.” In Netflix’s “Bridgerton” Season 4, we saw how Violet Bridgerton and Lord Marcus Anderson (Daniel Francis) had a passionate affair. He is a relative of Lady Agatha Danbury (Adjoa Andoh). He was keen to marry her but she refused as the family was going through a tough phase. 

“Bridgerton” Season 4 saw the demise of Francesca’s (Hannah Dodd) husband. The tragedy left her shocked and she had to decline Marcus’s proposal for marriage. Talking about “Bridgerton” spin-offs, “Queen Charlotte,” which ran for a single season in 2023 was much loved by audiences. It showed the love story of the queen and King George.

Actors Corey Mylchreest and India Amarteifio played the younger versions of the characters in the series. Many feel it was the purest love story in all the “Bridgerton” seasons so far.
