Box-Office Prediction: How Big Will ‘The Kerala Story 2’ and ‘Scream 7’ Open At The Ticket Windows?

February has been an insipid month for Bollywood in terms of box-office performance. On the last Friday of this month, we will see the arrival of "The Kerala Story 2," along with a Hollywood slasher franchise movie, “Scream 7.”

While the Hindi release has been controversial for its subject and themes and has had to deal with legal processes and political debate, the Hollywood franchise has found its loyal niche among cinegoers.

However, both films come with their share of uncertainty and unpredictability, as far as their performance at the box office is concerned. Raj Bansal, a multiplex owner and film distributor from Jaipur,  shares, “I'm rooting for 'The Kerala Story 2' because such films do very well these days. So, it should open very well in the range of about four-crore-plus.”

On the other hand, Vishek Chauhan, Chief Executive Officer at Roopbani Cinema in Bihar, opines that he doesn’t have any hopes from “The Kerala Story 2.” “I don't have any kind of expectations from these kinds of films. If they run, it is a jackpot, it is a lottery. If they don't, fine.”

Both experts say that "Scream 7" won’t do big numbers at the ticket windows because of its niche appeal among cinegoers.

Talking about “The Kerala Story 2,” the movie stars Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia and Aishwarya Ojha in leading roles. It is directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under the banner of Sunshine Pictures.

On the other hand, the seventh installment in the "Scream" film series, directed by Kevin Williamson, features Neve Campbell, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, David Arquette, Matthew Lillard and Courteney Cox reprising their roles with Isabel May, Anna Camp, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Mckenna Grace, Asa Germann, Celeste O'Connor, Sam Rechner, Mark Consuelos, Tim Simons and Joel McHale as new additions to the cast.
