Bobby Deol on ‘Alpha’: ‘It Was Exciting to See Alia Bhatt and Sharvari at the Heart of an Action Film’ (EXCLUSIVE)

As Yash Raj Films (YRF) prepares to expand its spy universe with “Alpha,” Bobby Deol says audiences can expect a large-scale theatrical entertainer led by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. Speaking to Variety India, Deol described the upcoming action film as a crowd-pleasing spectacle that embraces its commercial ambitions while delivering high-energy entertainment.

“Alpha is a really cool action film and a complete entertainer,” Deol says. “What I enjoyed most about it is that it knows exactly what it wants to be, a film that gives audiences a fun and exciting time at the theatres. I genuinely looked forward to being on set every day because there was always something exciting happening.”

Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film marks the first female-led installment in YRF’s interconnected spy universe, which includes titles such as “Ek Tha Tiger,” “Tiger Zinda Hai,” “War,” “Pathaan” and “Tiger 3.” Deol credits Rawail for creating a collaborative environment on set and says the filmmaker’s clarity helped shape the project.

“The atmosphere on set was incredibly warm and positive, and I have to give full credit to Shiv Rawail for his vision. As an actor, it was inspiring to work with a director who was so clear about the world he wanted to create. He has made something that feels fresh and different, and being part of that journey was immensely rewarding,” he says.

The actor also highlighted the experience of watching Alia Bhatt and Sharvari take center stage in a major action-driven franchise film. “It was exciting to see Alia and Sharvari at the heart of an action film. They brought tremendous dedication and energy to their roles, which added so much to the experience of working on the project,” he shares.

While plot details remain under wraps, “Alpha” is among the most anticipated upcoming titles from Yash Raj Films, with Bhatt and Sharvari leading the film’s action narrative. Deol says he is eager to see how audiences respond when the film reaches theatres. “I can’t wait for audiences to experience Alpha and I hope they shower it with all their love,” he says.

“Alpha” is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 3, 2026.
