‘Anupamaa’ Edges Out ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2’ To Take Top Spot On TRP Charts; ‘Naagin 7’ Holds Steady
The high-voltage drama on “Anupamaa” made sure it got the number one position on TRP charts. Rupali Ganguly’s fiery performance is trending all over social media and audiences can’t get enough of it. Of late, the competition between ‘Anupamaa’ and Ekta Kapoor’s “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2” has been rather intense and close. “Naagin 7” is also doing exceedingly well, much to the delight of loyal fans of Ekta Kapoor’s snake-maiden franchise. “Anupamaa” got a rating of 2.2 on the TRP charts while “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2” was at 2.1.

Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, Namik Paul’s “Naagin 7” has got a rating of 1.9, which is the same as last week. Zee TV’s “Vasudha” also has the same numbers. It is a dream run for Zee TV on the prime-time slots after a long time. The channel’s shows, “Vasudha”, Farman Haider and Sonakshi Batra’s “Jagadhatri”, Sharad Kelkar’s “Tum Se Tum Tak” and “Ganga Maa Ki Betiyaan” are all getting good numbers.
Talking about the new shows, ‘The 50’ on Colors got a rating of 1, while Neil Bhatt, Shambhavi Singh’s “Mr. and Mrs. Parshuram” opened at 1.6 for Star Plus. The TRP ratings have been good across the board, which is a heartening sign for TV producers.
Amar Upadhyay, who stars as Mihir in “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2,” told us, “We are thrilled to see its success. I feel Ekta Kapoor and the writing team deserve credit for the same. The story has resonance with the times we’re living in, but still retains the essence of the old show. People can identify with the challenges before Tulsi (Smriti Irani) and Mihir (Amar Upadhyay). The success has taken all of us by surprise.” Despite the rise of OTT platforms, TV is the number one medium of entertainment for families in semi-urban and rural India. The past two years have been tough for makers, with some shows not lasting even three months. These numbers before the IPL season kicks in are indeed a sign that good times are here!
