Allu Arjun’s Game Plan to Cement Pan-India Superstar Status

Allu Arjun is carefully crafting one of the most strategic and forward-looking lineups in Indian cinema today, clearly aiming to cement his position as a pan-India superstar. With a well-planned slate and long-term vision, he is focusing not just on quantity but also on scale, timing and impact.

Variety India brings you an overview of Allu Arjun's career plan in the next few years.

The journey begins with "Raaka", a high-budget project, directed by Atlee, that is expected to wrap up its shoot by August or September this year. Given the film’s massive scale and heavy dependence on VFX, the makers are planning an extensive post-production phase. This has pushed the expected release window to December 2027.

Following "Raaka", Allu Arjun will move on to "AA23,” an action-packed drama that will be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. With the shoot likely to commence around December or January 2027, the team is reportedly targeting a December 2028 release, ensuring that each project of his gets ample time for execution and promotion.

This spaced-out release strategy could help maintain consistent hype and avoid market saturation for the "Pushpa" star. Meanwhile, Malayalam director Basil Joseph had pitched a script to Allu Arjun nearly a year ago. While the concept impressed the star, it reportedly didn’t align completely with his current image. Basil has been reworking the script, but if it fails to materialize, Allu Arjun's home banner, Geetha Arts, might take it forward with another actor.

Next in line is Sandeep Reddy Vanga's biggie, which was announced long back. Not many know this, but Sandeep Vanga wanted to make "Arjun Reddy" with Allu Arjun. Now that they have teamed up with T-Series to back the film, everyone is eager to see when the film will go on floors. As per the update, this commercial drama will go on floors in the second half of 2028.

Then, there is also a film with Trivikram Srinivas that was supposed to be announced. However, things have been kept under wraps, and this suspense is likely to be cleared on May 20, when the makers are expected to officially announce the project.

We spoke to a close aide of Allu Arjun, who said, “Apart from the above-mentioned films, Allu Arjun has not signed any other project to date and is not currently in talks with anyone. He aims to give the best for these films and present himself in a completely new avatar that will shock the fans”. When asked about the reports suggesting a possible collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the team chose to avoid the topic.

With such a calculated lineup, Allu Arjun is not just signing films; he is building a long-term roadmap that could change his image and star power globally. If executed well, this strategy could elevate him to the very top tier of Indian cinema.
