By Sakshi Navare
While the anticipation of Ranveer Singh’s “Dhurandhar 2” among fans and cinegoers is humongous, its prequel has just set a record on Netflix for an Indian film. The spy actioner has garnered a staggering 23 million views, effectively emerging as the most-watched Indian film on the platform among post-theatrical releases since 2024.
It has surpassed Dulquer Salmaan-starrer “Lucky Baskhar”(19.4M), Vijay Sethupathi's “Maharaja” (18.6M), Kareena Kapoor-Kriti Sanon-Tabu-starrer “Crew” (17.9M) and Kiran Rao directorial “Laapataa Ladies” (17.1M). The film remained in Netflix’s Global Top 10 for six consecutive weeks, which is a rare feat by an Indian movie.

Despite entering its sixth week, “Dhurandhar” has continued to dominate the domestic charts in India.
Talking about the much-awaited sequel, “Dhurandhar 2,” the film has emerged as the highest Bollywood grosser in paid-previews beating Rajkummar Rao-Shraddha Kapoor’s “Stree 2” by a huge margin.
Speaking about the “Dhurandhar 2” across the country, veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh had told Variety India, “That's a great signal that people are ready to watch a film on the big screen. They are booking tickets at a very feverish pace, which indicates a couple of things. One, Bollywood is not dead. Bollywood came back with a bang last year, of course, with many other films, but also with ‘Dhurandhar’ coming in and doing unheard of business, smashing even ‘Pushpa’’s record, becoming the highest ever grossing Hindi film ever in India. And then, now, after a couple of months from December to now, March, the second part is coming. And I'm sure you've seen the booking craze for the film. I mean, it is the film that the tickets are selling faster than hot cakes. And I think that's all that matters. Because eventually, box office validation is the ultimate validation.”
Unlike the first film, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” is set to release in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, expanding its reach across the country.
While the film officially releases on March 19, it is having paid previews on March 18, 2026.
