Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna Reunite For ‘Badhaai Ho’ Director Amit Sharma’s Next (EXCLUSIVE)
Even before Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna could set the screen on fire with their sizzling chemistry in “Cocktail 2”, the duo is already preparing for a second collaboration. Variety India has exclusively learned that Shahid and Rashmika are set to reunite for "Badhaai Ho" and "Maidaan" director Amit Ravindernath Sharma's next romantic comedy.
Shahid and Rashmika are believed to have struck a great professional rapport during the filming of "Cocktail 2" and readily agreed to work together again when approached for this latest project. This untitled film promises a refreshing blend of romance and comedy, with their on-screen dynamic expected to be more personal, emotional and layered compared to the breezy, modern relationships explored in Homi Adajania's “Cocktail 2”.
The film will be produced by Sunir Kheterpal under The Vermilion World banner in association with Jio Studios. Sunir has previously produced films like “Farrey”, “Badla”, “Rocky Handsome” and “Dobaaraa”, among others. This film will mark his second collaboration with Shahid, following Ali Abbas Zafar's “Bloody Daddy”. It will also reunite Kheterpal with director Amit Sharma following their earlier collaboration, “The Intern”, which was shelved after the unfortunate demise of veteran actor Rishi Kapoor. The producer-director duo has reportedly been in discussions over several projects since then and has now finalized this film as their next venture together.
