‘Aadu 3’ Beats ‘Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life’ And ‘Aavesham’ To Become Seventh Highest Malayalam Grosser At Overseas Box Office
Jayasurya’s "Aadu 3: One Last Ride Part-1" continues to rake in big numbers as the fantasy comedy dominated its 2nd weekend at the worldwide box office.
Despite facing stiff competition from Ranveer Singh’s “Dhurandhar 2,” the third installment of the "Aadu" franchise became a huge winner by grossing ₹109.90 crore globally, as per Sacnilk.
Apart from the domestic market, the Midhun Manuel Thomas directorial has emerged as a record-breaker in the international markets. With the collections of ₹60.15 crore, “Aadu 3” is now the seventh-highest Malayalam grosser at the overseas box office, surpassing Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer "Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life" (₹59.15 crore) and Fahadh Faasil’s "Aavesham" (₹56 crore).
By today, it will cross the business of Nivin Pauly’s “Sarvam Maya” (₹60.60 crore) and grab the sixth position in the list after “L2: Empuraan” (₹142.25 crore), “Lokah Chapter 1 – Chandra” (₹119.9 crore) “Thudarum” (₹93.8 crore), “Manjummel Boys” (₹73.4 crore) and “2018” (₹69.5 crore).
In an exclusive interview with Variety India, the director spoke exclusively about the next part of the franchise and said, "As the first part worked among the audience following its online release, my only goal when writing for ‘Aadu 2’ was to make it work in the theater. The sequel brought in a huge fan following for the franchise. Initially, the genre shift in ‘Aadu 3’ was tricky for me, and I am now confident for the next part, ‘Aadu 3: The Last Ride Part 2,’ seeing the audiences’ rave response for the third instalment.”
Apart from Jayasurya, “Aadu 3” also sees Saiju Kurup, Vinayakan, Renji Panicker, Vijay Babu, Sunny Wayne, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Bhagath Manuel, Indrans, Bijukuttan, Sudhi Koppa and Harikrishnan reprising their roles, with Alleya Bourne and Krishna Jeev as new additions.
