‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Trailer Hits 503 Million Views In 24 Hours, Second Only To ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’
Marvel’s first full trailer for "Avengers: Doomsday" racked up a massive 503 million views within its first 24 hours. The record-breaking debut marks the second-largest trailer launch in cinema history, trailing only Sony's upcoming superhero film "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" at 719 million views. The footage easily surpassed Disney's previous record holder, 2024's "Deadpool & Wolverine", whose Super Bowl teaser generated 365 million views including its television broadcast.
Disney and Marvel initially kicked off the film's promotional campaign last December with four brief teasers. This new trailer debuted on July 20, strategically arriving just before Marvel's highly anticipated panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
As the first main team-up film since "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019, excitement for "Doomsday" remains at an all-time high ahead of its December 18 release. The trailer showcased a high-stakes crossover as Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) faces off against an expansive roster of heroes. Among the featured stars are Chris Evans returning as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Alongside the footage, Disney opened early ticket sales, generating $16.5 million in just one day. Premium format showtimes for opening night are already near capacity, prompting movie theaters to add more screenings through the holiday season. The initial pre-sale numbers are currently doubling those of "Deadpool & Wolverine" over the same timeframe.
The upcoming 39th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe lands in theaters a few months after "Spider-Man: Brand New Day", with both blockbusters expected to dominate the global box office.
