Zayn’s fifth studio album, ‘Konnakol’: Everything we know
Following his moderately well-received 2024 offering, “Room Under The Stairs” (2024), Zayn announced his fifth studio album “Konnakol” via Instagram, tersely sharing, “It’s that time again, I have been lucky enough to make a fifth studio album…”
He further revealed that while the first single “Die For Me” drops tomorrow (Feb. 6, 2026), the entire album will be out Apr. 17, via Mercury Records.
If this album ends up reminding fans of 2016’s “Mind Of Mine”, it’s no accident. The description note for “Konnakol” on his official website states that, “Zayn’s fifth studio album is his most culturally inspired project to date. The pop-forward album expands on the sound fans first heard on his record-breaking debut studio album, “Mind of Mine”.” Incidentally, it’s been an entire decade since Zayn’s solo debut, following his time with the record-breaking British boyband One Direction.

And while the title would come as a head-scratcher to most, music aficionados from South India would recognise the term immediately. Zayn’s website further adds, “‘Konnakol’, in its definition, is the act of creating percussive sounds with one’s voice, but what it means to Zayn lies somewhere much deeper. It is a sound that holds the reverberation of a time before words existed.”
The announcement comes on the heels of the end of his seven-night Las Vegas residency at the Park MGM, which ran between Jan. 20 and Jan. 31, 2026. The album cover, shot by Nabil Elderkin, features a snow leopard, found in South Asia and also appeared in visuals at his residency, offering attendees a glimpse into the new phase of his music-making.
Unreleased songs were teased during his performance at the residency, including the lead single, “Die For Me”. Attendees noted that one song in particular, “Fatal” had Urdu lyrics, which are a nod to his Pakistani heritage (Zayn’s father is Pakistani, his mother is British).
Noting that the album will draw on Zayn’s own heritage for inspiration, his website concludes, “This album is a development of that understanding, knowing more now than ever, who he is, where he comes from and where he intends to go.”
The album release in April will be followed by a tour across the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Mexico and South America in 2026, something the artist teased via Instagram on his birthday on Jan. 12, 2026.
Zayn’s last release was “Break Free” for the “Borderlands 4” soundtrack. He also marked his K-Pop debut with a collaboration with Blackpink’s Jisoo on “Eyes Closed” in 2025.
