‘You’ll Be Delusional to Ignore A.I.; Soon We will Be Making Two-Hour Movies With It’, Says ‘Kaabil’ Director Sanjay Gupta (EXCLUSIVE)
Artificial Intelligence, or popularly, A.I., has been making headlines for its usage in filmmaking. While several filmmakers and influential personalities have expressed their misgivings and reservations about the usage of A.I. in the West, Indian filmmakers seem more ready to embrace this technology, as they say A.I. is here to stay.
In an exclusive interview with Variety India, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, known for helming movies like “Aatish,” “Kaante,” “Zinda” and “Shootout at Wadala,” among others, hints that A.I. is the future and soon two-hour movies will be made with it
“You will be delusional to ignore A.I. As a matter of fact, the outcome we witnessed last week because of the Seedance 2.0 software developed to create A.I., and it's from China. And that country does not believe in copyright. So, you can have a John Wick fighting an Ethan Hawke, and all of that,” shares Gupta.
Emphasizing the superficial output of A.I., he adds, “Look at how real it's getting. Earlier, A.I. was restricted to five seconds. Now it's come to 10 minutes, it will soon be two-hour movies. It's just a matter of time. So, everything that we know is going to change. It's going to become more and more difficult to even tell if it’s an A.I. shot, like recently I saw a shot online, which was Walter White from ‘Breaking Bad’ sitting with Donald Trump. And it is so authentic, I tweeted it, I said, ‘how the hell will we know now?’”
Sanjay Gupta also reveals to us that he will soon announce his next movie. With the script being ready, the untitled project is in the casting process. It will go on floors in a couple of months.
