‘Vaazha 2’ Beats ‘Chatha Pacha’ to Become 2026’s Second-Biggest Malayalam Opener

“Vaazha II: Biopic of a Billion Bros” ("Vaazha 2"), starring Hashir H, Alan Bin Siraj, and Ajin Joy, has kept the box office buzzing with its remarkable opening.  The coming-of-age film drew strong crowds from the morning shows and held steady through the day. It convincingly outperformed “Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies” at the ticket windows.

The film collected ₹4.75 crore (₹5.6 crore gross) on its first day, becoming the second-biggest Mollywood grosser of the year after “Aadu 3” (₹5.95 crore), overtaking “Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies” (₹3.4 crore) to grab the second spot.

For the unversed, the first part of “Vaazha” had opened to 1.4 crore during its release in 2024 and emerged as a box-office winner, courtesy of positive word-of-mouth.

Mollywood is currently enjoying a strong phase with back-to-back successes, including “Aadu 3” and “Vaazha 2,” and is expected to maintain this momentum with the arrival of “Patriot” and “Drishyam 3.” “Vaazha 2,” marks the directorial debut of Savin SA and brings back Vipin Das as writer and producer.

The film’s album comprises 10 songs and is composed by nine composers —Malayali Monkeys, Rajat Prakash, Parvatish Pradeep, Rzee, Muthu, Arcado, Jazir Muhammed, Ashwin Aryan and Electronic Kili.
