There is always a catalyst that ignites a love story. In the case of actor Bellamkonda Sreenivas and his fianceé Kavya Reddy, it was their mutual friends who played Cupid. “One of our mutual friends was playing matchmaker. She mentioned that her friend Kavya came from a prominent judicial family. Kavya’s family was looking for a well-qualified boy for her, but didn’t want someone from a film or political background. So, without losing a beat, I asked my friend to set up a coffee meet between Kavya and me. And that is how we met, the very next day over a cup of coffee.”

Kavya interjects and adds, “So my best friend and his best friend are close friends and decided to introduce us to each other.” Kavya was apprehensive initially. “He came from a film family. We belonged to different castes. I’m a Reddy and he is a Chaudhary. But my friend reassured me by saying that at worst, if we don’t click, we can still be friends. So, I decided to meet him with an open mind. And the first time I met him, I knew instantly that this was it.” Bellam had a more practical approach. “I was looking at multiple factors, but by the third day, I was clear that she was the girl for me,” he confesses.

When they met, they realized that they had both studied at the same school, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Hyderabad. “So, she was six years junior to me. In school, this is a huge gap, so we never had a chance to meet back then. She was too young,” he chuckles.

“He and my sister were batchmates. We laughed about how when I was in primary school, he had moved to secondary school. So, by the time I came to the secondary, he had graduated by then,” she jokes. Later, she opted for engineering while Bellamkonda got a degree in Commerce.
But their worlds were meant to collide when the couple decided to take their relationship forward. “Once we both decided we wanted to marry each other, we got our parents involved. There were a few complications, but eventually everything got sorted out,” says Bellamkonda.
In this process of waiting for things to fall in place, the couple dated each other for two years. “We took this time to get to know each other well. We gradually became best friends. And over time, we started missing each other. I remember that I was shooting in Udaipur for a week, and the mobile signal there was weak. I was hardly able to talk to her, and I started missing her a lot and that is when I knew even more that she was my person,” he admits.
Kavya was clear about only wanting to marry the man she loved. "This relationship was arranged by our friends. Initially, when we met, we hardly knew each other. If we had gotten married back then, it would have been an arranged marriage, but now it's a proper love marriage,” she asserts.

While today Kavya has fallen in love with Bellam, she had never watched a film of his before their meeting. “When he asked me if I had watched his movies, I said that I had. He would ask me questions about his movies, and I would be clueless. I was so embarrassed, so I started watching his movies after I met him. , However, I am unable to relate to the man I see on screen. He is nothing like what he is in his personal life. I didn’t have any preconceived notions in my head, so I saw him for what he is,” she reveals.
Clearly besotted by her partner, Kavya admits to being “extremely proud of him, I see how hard Shreeni works. This is also one of the reasons that I fell in love with him.” Kavya is still getting accustomed to her fiancé’s world, which is a world apart from her low-profile lifestyle. “I’m not that prepared yet. I try to keep myself out of this glamour space as much as possible.”
Bellamkonda pipes in by emphasizing that he treats his profession like a regular job. “My dad, Bellamkonda Suresh, has been a producer. I have seen the industry from close quarters. And here it is only success that matters. So, my father had always advised me to treat my profession like a regular job and to focus on my family life. So that is what I want to create with Kavya also. Once I finish my work, I switch off completely,” he adds.

Right now, the much-in-love couple, who got engaged on April 7, is gearing up for their wedding in Tirumala on April 29. “We didn’t want a destination wedding. At any rate, it is too hot to go anywhere right now. We wanted something more meaningful and opted for Tirumala, where we will get the privacy we need. We will have around 350 guests at the wedding, but there will be a big fat reception in Hyderabad post that,” he says.
The actor is currently shooting for his action film, ‘Haindava,’ and will take a break just before his wedding. “It is my first pan-India film and I’m hoping to hit my 300-crore mark hopefully when it releases at the end of the year,” he says. Before that, his action flick, “Tyson Naidu,” is slated to release in September.
But right now, his personal life takes precedence. The couple is planning a European honeymoon after their wedding. “Kavya has never been to Europe. So, we plan to visit Iceland, Paris and Mykonos for our honeymoon.”
