The Devil Wears Prada 2: Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep movie trailer gets 222 million views in 24 hours

By Garima Sharma

"The Devil Wears Prada 2" trailer shattered records at 20th Century Studios, pulling in a wild 222 million views in its first day. That’s the most any trailer from the studio has ever racked up. People went crazy when the trailer dropped. 20th Century Studios bragged about the numbers on X, using Miranda Priestly’s classic line: “Groundbreaking. Literally.” The complete post on X read, "222,000,000 trailer views in 24hrs? Groundbreaking. Literally. Thank you for making "The Devil Wears Prada 2" the most viewed 20th Century Studios trailer of all time."

The last teaser, back in November 2025, already broke records with 181.5 million views and Anne Hathaway’s own social media pushed a third of that total.
Hard to believe, but the original film came out twenty years ago. Based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel, it threw Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, into the fire at Runway magazine under Meryl Streep’s razor-sharp Miranda Priestly. It snagged Oscar nominations for Streep and Costume Design.

Now, everyone’s back. Hathaway, Streep, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, they all return. There’s new blood too: Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak, Rachel Bloom and Lady Gaga.

The trailer even jokes about Miranda forgetting Andy, old wounds still sting, apparently. Andy is now features editor at Runway, but the magazine’s struggling to keep up with a world that doesn’t look much like 2006. Watching this trailer, it’s like being yanked straight back into the chaos of mid-2000s fashion, only now there’re more screens and even sharper elbows. Hathaway looks more confident; Streep’s glare is, somehow, even scarier, and Blunt and Tucci slip back into their roles like they never left. Fans have loved how the original film’s tension without going over the top. That opening shot, Miranda sweeping down the hallway while assistants scramble out of her way, instantly took me back. It’s just as striking as before. Then Andy drops that cool “Took you long enough,” and it’s such a flip from how anxious she used to be.
You can tell she’s changed and it actually feels real. The trailer’s not even two minutes long, but it pulls you right back into the Runway world and sets up a showdown between Miranda and Andy that actually feels big.

The movie hits theaters on May 1, 2026 and let’s be real: it’s already shaping up to be as huge as the original.
