‘The Boys’ Season 5 Trailer: Homelander’s Reign, Soldier Boy’s Return And Major Easter Eggs – 5 Takeaways From The Final Season Tease
After what seems like ages, the makers of "The Boys" have finally shared the trailer for the fifth and final season of the Amazon Prime Video show, two months after sharing the teaser. The trailer captures the tension that has been building since Season 4 as we see Homelander stepping in to rule the world as he always intended, and the drama unfolding as others now run to save their lives.
So as The Boys heads towards a final showdown, here are the five takeaways from the latest trailer and yes, we noticed some Easter eggs too.
Homelander Is A Free Bird Now
The trailer shows a world where Homelander’s dominance has become frighteningly normal. He is no more the corporate superhero, but is openly exercising his superpowers to keep his political and cultural control intact. What is even more frightening is that he has supporters cheering for him like a messianic figure, while critics are either silenced or imprisoned.
This suggests Season 5 will explore a full blown authoritarian reality, where Homelander is less a celebrity hero and more a dictator who has weaponized fame, fear and nationalism. The tone indicates that the world has crossed a point of no return and the resistance now looks nearly impossible.

Billy Butcher Reaches His Breaking Point
That Billy Butcher dedicated his life to stopping Supes is not an understatement. But rage has now pushed him towards an extreme solution. His plan to use the Supe killing virus could wipe out every enhanced individual on the planet. This creates the central moral conflict of this season. Butcher may be the only person willing to stop Homelander, but his solution could also mean genocide. The trailer frames him as a man who knows he has become the very monster he once hated.
The Boys Are Completely Broken Apart
This is not the season where the team is operating together. The trailer shows them scattered and this has made them very vulnerable. Hughie Campbell, Mother's Milk and Frenchie appear to be detained in government controlled facilities, while Starlight seems to be leading a desperate underground resistance.
This suggests the season will start with the heroes at their lowest point before they regroup for one final attempt to take down Homelander and Vought International.
Soldier Boy Is Here
One of the highest points of this trailer is the wild card entry of Soldier Boy. He introduces a major complication. The fact that he is Homelander’s biological father changes everything, as he now carries emotional and ideological baggage that could shape the final battle.
The trailer does not reveal whose side he will take. He could help destroy Homelander or he could make things even worse. That uncertainty makes him one of the most unpredictable elements heading into the final season.
The Three Easter Eggs
If you look closely in a key scene, we see a Black Noir style silhouette moving through smoke. Even though the original Black Noir died in Season 3, it is being said that he might not be completely gone. In the comics, the Black Noir identity has layers and replacements, so the show could be teasing a new version of the character or a Vought manufactured successor.
The second Easter egg comes from a background billboard that briefly flashes a patriotic Vought campaign video featuring Homelander standing in front of a massive American flag. This is classic Vought International propaganda and mirrors how the corporation constantly rewrites public perception in the series. Even after all the chaos in Season 4, the trailer hints that Vought is still controlling the narrative and public opinion heading into the final battle.
But the third and most important is the Supe Prison callback. A quick shot shows a place that looks like a heavily fortified underground facility where enhanced individuals are restrained. Fans believe this may connect to the superhuman containment facility teased earlier in the series, where dangerous Supes are secretly held.
If this is the same facility, it could become a major battleground in Season 5, especially if characters like Billy Butcher or Hughie Campbell try to break people out or destroy Vought’s secret operations.
"The Boys" will release on Amazon Prime Video on April 8, 2026.
