‘Tomb Raider’ Star Sophie Turner Suffers Minor Injury; Series Hits Brief Production Pause

Sophie Turner’s “Tomb Raider” series has hit a roadblock after the star suffered a minor injury, with the makers officially confirming the development. While it remains unclear whether Turner sustained the injury on set or elsewhere, it has certainly affected the show's production timeline.
Backed by Amazon MGM Studios, the “Tomb Raider” series is being helmed by “Fleabag” creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge. According to Deadline, the makers confirmed the news in a statement, saying, “Sophie Turner recently experienced a minor injury. As a precaution, production has briefly paused to allow her time to recover. We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible.”

As per the report, the shutdown is expected to last about two weeks, and the crew working on the show will be paid during the pause.
It was on January 15 that Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics officially announced the start of production for the series, which had remained stuck in pre-production limbo for a long time. The announcement came alongside Sophie Turner’s first look image as Lara Croft. The team is currently filming the show in the UK.
The “Tomb Raider” series is based on the long-running and globally popular video game franchise and follows the adventures of archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft. Alongside Sophie Turner, the cast also includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie and August Wittgenstein.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge serves as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner on the project, alongside Chad Hodge, who is attached as co-showrunner and executive producer.
