The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has finally announced the 17 nominees for its Class of 2026. While the annual reveal is always exciting for fans, there is an additional reason to celebrate this year: it is one of the most genre-spanning lists in the Hall’s history. Ten artists appear on the ballot for the first time, while seven return after previous nominations.

First-time nominees include Buckley, Collins, Etheridge, Hill, INXS, New Edition, Pink, Shakira, Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan. Returning nominees are The Black Crowes, Carey, Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis and Sade.
This year’s ballot is larger than last year’s — 17 nominees compared to 14 in 2025. Of the seven returning acts, five had been nominated for the first time only last year, marking an unusually quick reappearance: The Black Crowes, Carey, Idol, Joy Division/New Order and Oasis.
The Hall is not reaching far back into its early history for repeat nominees — all prior nominations for these artists have occurred since 2021. Pink is the only artist nominated in her first year of eligibility; her debut album Can’t Take Me Home was released in 2000.
All ten new nominees rose to prominence in the 1980s, 1990s or, in Pink’s case, the 2000s. Collins is the only 2026 contender who is already in the Hall, having previously been inducted as a member of Genesis.
Voting will take place over the next two months, with roughly 12,000 Hall voters casting ballots. The Class of 2026 will be announced in April. Additional inductees will also be named in three special committee categories: Musical Influence, Musical Excellence and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award.
