Regé-Jean Page Says, ‘You, Me and Tuscany’ Felt Like a Romance That ‘Actually Believed in Love’ (EXCLUSIVE)
By Sakshi Navare
For Regé-Jean Page, “You, Me and Tuscany” stood out because it felt like a romance that actually wanted to be one. Universal Pictures India is bringing “You, Me and Tuscany” to theaters in India on April 10, 2026. Directed by Kat Coiro, the romantic drama stars Halle Bailey and Page in the lead.
Set amid the warmth and chaos of rustic Italian life, the film centers on Anna, played by Bailey, whose impulsive decision to occupy an abandoned Tuscan villa sends her into an emotional spiral involving deception, romance and self-discovery. The film is framed around a family-run restaurant, emotional baggage and the kind of old-school romantic confusion that feels intentionally rooted in a more classic genre space.

Speaking to Variety India about what drew him to the film, Regé-Jean Page said the script stood out to him because it did not treat romance like an afterthought. “My initial reaction was relief at reading a romantic comedy that cared about the romance,” he said. “I had been craving movies that allow themselves to actually believe in love, letting the audience go on a journey to a place where you really want to be.”
He added that the setting and emotional world of the film also made it feel more personal. “The privilege of coming all the way out to Italy and living the dream that you're not quite sure you're allowed to live, while giving yourself permission to do that, I believe, is something very special about this.”
Bailey, meanwhile, has also spoken about how immediately she connected with Anna as a character. The actress has described her as someone carrying heartbreak, uncertainty and emotional confusion, while still holding on to ambition and a sense of possibility. That emotional contradiction appears to be at the center of the film.
“You, Me and Tuscany” looks to position itself as a romantic drama that is less interested in surface-level charm and more invested in emotional messiness, longing and the idea of allowing yourself a second chance, whether in love or in life.
