Rajinikanth And Kamal Haasan Film Shoots Promo To Attract Streaming Platforms
Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan’s movie has been making news ever since it was announced. It was initially supposed to be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and later by Sundar C. As per reports, the filming of the promo of "#Thalaivar174" started yesterday at Prasad Studios, Chennai. The promo is being keenly awaited by fans of these two legendary actors. It seems the constructed set is huge and resembles a mechanic’s shed.

However, the actual filming of the movie won't begin before August or September 2026. A source told Variety India, "The producers are making this teaser just to attract streaming platforms. They want to get either Netflix or Amazon Prime Video on board. You need to shoot a bit to present the movie as an attractive option for streaming platforms. It is a very expensive movie with a budget of over ₹500 crore. The combined fee of these two superstars is ₹300 cr. In the current market, producers are keen to rope in streaming partners at the earliest. They know they can recover some part of the budget even if the film tanks."
Nelson Dilipkumar and Rajinikanth had teamed up for “Jailer” in 2023. It was one of the biggest successes for Kollywood in the past five years. They are now working together on “Jailer 2," which will release in the second half of 2026. This will be the filmmaker’s first project as a director with Kamal Haasan.
Rajinikanth is now wrapping up the last bit of filming for “Jailer 2". Post that, Nelson will dive into the post-production of the action thriller. After “Thug Life," Kamal Haasan began shooting for his action movie with stunt masters Anbariv (Real Names: Anbumani and Arivumani). It is said to be one of the most intense shoots of Kamal Haasan’s career. “Lokah” composer Jakes Bejoy has been roped in to compose the music for the film.
