Rahul Arunoday Banerjee Death: As Producer Leena Gangopadhyay Maintains Silence, Legal Recourse Being Considered (EXCLUSIVE)
The tragic death of Rahul Arunoday Banerjee on March 29 left the West Bengal film and TV industry in utter shock and disbelief. What has compounded their grief is the multiple versions of events surrounding the actor’s demise in Talsari that have surfaced. To get to the truth behind this extremely unfortunate incident and fix accountability, Tollywood artists demanded that Leena Gangopadhyay’s production house must publicly share an official version of the chain of events that resulted in this tragedy. The artists also called for a joint meeting with TV and film producers, channels and artist forums to address safety protocols on sets.

It was reported that the team of “Bhole Baba Par Karega,” the TV series Rahul was shooting for in Talsari, did not seek permission from local cops before filming near the sea. It seems that Leena Gangopadhyay has not responded to the artists’ concerns and demands. The West Bengal Motion Picture Artists' Forum had sent an email to her on the matter, but were unhappy with the vague response sent by the production house. A source associated with the industry told us, “She has not yet issued a clarification on the matter. As of now, there is a boycott of her production house, Magic Moments Motion Pictures, with no artist or technician working on their shows. Honestly, we would not like to comment on words like “untraceable,” which is being used on social media. She is very much there. Now, it seems like legal recourse is the only way out.”
On April 7, the entire Tollywood industry stopped work in a show of solidarity. Prosenjit, Parambrata Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Subhashree Ganguly and many other top stars took part in a rally to support this cause of artists’ safety. Actress Priyanka Sarkar, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee’s wife, has filed an FIR in Odisha demanding a thorough investigation into this incident.
