‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’ Trailer Drops; Fans Chant, ‘Birmingham Is Calling Again’
Netflix dropped the official trailer for its upcoming film “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man” earlier today. Tom Harper who directed the second half of the first season of the global blockbuster, “Peaky Blinders” has helmed this movie. The trailer introduces us to the new character, Kaulo played by actress Rebecca Ferguson. She tells Thomas (Tommy) Shelby (Cillian Murphy) that he lives a lonely life tormented by his past deeds. We hear her saying, “Tommy, you live in a house haunted with ghosts of people who died because of you. You abandoned your kingdom, and you abandoned your son.” Then, Duke (Barry Keoghan) the illegitimate son of Tommy is introduced to us. It seems he is now then new kingpin of Birmingham's gangs.
Actor Tim Roth who was nominated for the Oscars for his role in “Reservoir Dogs” (1992) plays Beckett, a British Fascist sympathizer who wants Duke to secretly side with the Germans in the war. Later, we see Thomas Shelby head to the Peaky Blinders pub to find his son. However, no one from the present generation knows who Tommy Shelby is. But some take cover on seeing him. Murphy’s character says, “Perhaps someone should explain to him who I am.” We see a huge explosion with Shelby standing behind the fire.
Fans are elated to see Cillian Murphy back as Tommy Shelby. It is the final battle in the life of Tommy who has to risk it all to save his son, Duke. Packed with drama, emotions and action, the trailer is indeed a promising one. Thomas Shelby is one of the most iconic characters to be created for TV and fans are invested in every aspect of this show.
If the vibe is darker… the stakes are higher.
