Netflix India To Adapt Prajakta Koli’s ‘Too Good To Be True’ For a Web Series (EXCLUSIVE)
Following the success of “Mismatched,” Netflix India is collaborating with Prajakta Koli for yet another project. Variety India has exclusively learned that the streaming giant is set to adapt Koli’s romance novel, “Too Good To Be True,” for a web series.
Koli will star in and produce the show, expected to go on floors in the second half of this year. The project will mark a new milestone for Koli, who started as a YouTube creator and has since significantly expanded her role in the entertainment industry, moving beyond content creation into acting, authoring and producing her own stories. She is best known for starring in the popular romantic Netflix series, “Mismatched,” and films like “Jug Jugg Jeeyo,” “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,” and “Single Papa,” among others.

Published in January 2025, “Too Good To Be True” is a light-hearted contemporary romance that follows Avani, a law student working part-time in a bookshop, and Aman, a charming, wealthy CEO. The story focuses on their slow-burn romance, overcoming past traumas, and navigating life in their 20s with witty, relatable dialogue, set mainly in Mumbai. While Koli is set to essay Avani, casting for Aman will be locked once the writing is completed. No director is attached to the project yet.
Koli started writing the novel during the lockdown with plans to turn it into a long-format content project, but later decided to turn it into a book. She is now excited to see it getting a web series adaptation, like she had originally envisioned it.
On the work front, she will next be seen in the fourth and final season of “Mismatched,” set to premiere soon on Netflix India. She will also feature in Netflix’s “Operation Safed Sagar”, an ambitious retelling of the Indian Air Force’s pivotal role in the Kargil War. The Oni Sen-directed series is headlined by Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill, Abhay Verma, and Mihir Ahuja.
