Netflix Has Big Plans For ‘KPop Demon Hunters,’ Aims To Capitalize On Success Of Oscar-winning Animated Movie
Netflix Inc. has plans to do a ‘Kpop Demon Hunters’ world tour to capitalize on the success of the award-winning animated movie. The movie had songs like “Golden,” “Soda Pop,” “Takedown,” “How It’s Done,” which were big hits. Netflix has plans to hold concerts all over the world in major cities. The arenas would be big enough to hold 10,000 to 20,000 fans. The firm is still working on the logistics of who would be available to perform. The vocal trio of EJAE (real name: Kim Eun-jae), Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI (real name: Sarah Yeeun Lee) performed “Golden” at the 98th Academy Awards ceremony. They are the voices of the fictional girl group Huntr/x in the movie. Netflix also plans to bring in virtual performers in the form of holograms. This has been reported in Bloomberg.

In her Oscar speech, Maggie Kang, the co-creator of the movie said “KPop Demon Hunters” was for Korea and Koreans everywhere. They want to hold the concerts ahead of the release of the sequel.
In “KPop Demon Hunters” three Korean pop stars are also demon hunters. They are rivals with a boy band, who belong to the evil side. Lee Byung-hun gave the voice of the demon in the movie. The decision is still not finalized as they are working out the logistics and budgets for the same. As per Bloomberg, Netflix wants to retain creative control on the project. It seems a number of promoters have already offered tens of millions of dollars as guarantees. The movie won the Best Animated Film at Oscars while “Golden” was the Best Original Song. The movie has 500 million views on Netflix.
