Mr. X Trailer Unveils High-Stakes Spy Thriller Led by Manju Warrier, Arya, Gautham Ram Karthik

The film that will make its theatrical release on April 17 stars, among others, actors Arya, Manju Warrier, Raiza Wilson, Gautham Ram Karthik, Sarath Kumar, Anagha, Athulya, Jayaprakash and Kaali Venkat.

Positioned as a high-octane action drama, “Mr. X” centers on the covert world of secret agents, espionage and high-risk missions tied to national security. The trailer opens with a disclaimer framing the narrative as a fictional account inspired by multiple reported incidents over time. A commanding voice appears to brief a covert operative as the principal cast is introduced.

The trailer is simple and keeps no one guessing about “Mr. X’s”  premise, which is a globe-trotting spy-mission story. The trailer builds up mystery around a specific nuclear device that must be retrieved and brought back to India safely.

What Works:

The stylish and slick cinematography, which takes us through the various international locales across the world, is the standout element in the trailer. Points also for the classy way it introduces multiple characters and its dual heroes, played by Gautham Ram Karthik and Arya. For fans of action thrillers, there is no dearth of gunfire, explosions and adrenaline-packed operations. Manju Warrier leads from the front and the trailer concludes with her character warning about the consequences that could escalate into a world war.

What Doesn’t Work:

There’s over-explaining. The trailer expends too much time on what to expect, setting expectations for a linear screenplay. It also runs the risk of falling into yet another espionage thriller, what with the film coming on the back of one of the biggest blockbuster spy dramas, Dhurandhar 2’s release.

In Balance:

Overall, the trailer delivers a clean and straightforward glimpse into “Mr. X,” which has generated excitement among the audience about the film to come. The film is written and directed by Manu Anand, who had made the 2022 action thriller, “FIR,” featuring Vishnu Vishal.
