Mohanlal’s ‘Drishyam 3’ Postponed to May 2026; To Release on Star’s Birthday
By Sakshi Navare
Mohanlal fans will have to wait a bit longer for “Drishyam 3,” as the megastar and the makers have confirmed that the Malayalam film has been pushed to May 21, 2026, from its originally planned release date of April 2, 2026. The announcement comes after multiple speculations about the postponement made headlines earlier in the day.
“Drishyam 3” will now release on Mohanlal’s birthday. Sharing the update on his official Instagram handle in a collaborative post, the actor wrote, “The past never stays silent... it only waits. Georgekutty arrives, May 21st 2026.” The poster features Mohanlal standing by a window, seemingly lost in deep thought, with sunlight falling on his face and his eyes closed.

No official reason has been provided for the delay. However, reports suggest that tensions in Middle East may have influenced the decision. Given that the region is one of the biggest markets for Malayalam cinema, the makers are said to have opted for a postponement of nearly two months.
Interestingly, the Malayalam version of “Drishyam 3” will release six months ahead of Ajay Devgn’s Hindi adaptation, which is slated to hit theatres in October 2026. Mohanlal reprises his role as Georgekutty, a character that has defined the franchise across its first two films. The new poster also bears a striking resemblance to the visual tone of the original installment.
The film’s tagline, “Past Never Stays Silent,” hints that the crime at the center of the story will continue to cast a long shadow in this chapter. Director Jeethu Joseph has previously indicated that the third installment may lean less on conventional thriller tropes, though that has done little to dampen audience excitement.
