‘Toxic’ vs ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’: Yash and Varun Dhawan Set the Stage for Another Explosive Box Office Clash

The makers of the Yash-starrer announced the postponement of the epic gangster drama this morning, due to the ongoing volatile escalation and regional instability in the Middle East.

On the advice of the movie’s major distribution partner, Phars Films, the producers decided to reschedule the release and announced the new date, June 4. While the delay has paved the way for “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” to have an opposition-free release on March 19, the Yash film will now face fresh competition at the box-office with Varun Dhawan’s “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.”

The rom-com co-starring Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde is hitting the screens on June 5. While the genres of both films are completely different, it would be interesting to see how this clash grabs the headlines. As the promotional assets of “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai” are not out yet, it would be too early to judge the buzz and hype around the movie.

Directed by David Dhawan, the film also stars Chunky Panday, Maniesh Paul, Mouni Roy, Jimmy Sheirgill, Kubbra Sait, Rajesh Kumar, Rakesh Bedi and Ali Asgar in supporting roles.

It marks the reunion of father-son duo,  David and Varun Dhawan, after “Main Tera Hero,” “Judwaa 2” and “Coolie No. 1.” It is bankrolled by Ramesh Taurani under the banner of Tips Films.

On the other hand, “Toxic,” which will release across the globe in English and Indian languages, also features Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria in pivotal roles. Written by Yash and directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. It is produced under the banners of KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations.
