ATEEZ Vocalist Seonghwa Music Video ‘Skin’ Reminds Us of DPR Ian, Jackson Wang’s Goth-themed Visualizers
K-Pop is characterized by electronic, synth and hip-hop sounds in recent times. ‘Skin’, which is a solo from Seonghwa of the K-Pop boyband, ATEEZ, falls in this category. The number is a part of the album ‘Golden Hour: Part.3 'In Your Fantasy Edition'. ATEEZ is an eight-member K-Pop band and Seonghwa is one of the main vocalists. In his interviews, Seonghwa has often described his personality as genderless or gender fluid, and the MV captures this in an inspired manner. While the visualizer reminds us of many other videos, it stands out brilliantly on its own.
‘Skin’ is written by Seonghwa (Park Seong Hwa), Hongjoong (Kim Hong-joong), EDEN, Maddox, Peperoni, Oliv, Door, Kikoi and BALM. The musical composition and arrangement is done by Hongjoong, EDEN, Maddox, Peperoni, Oliv, Door, Kikoi and BALM.

The MV instantly grabs your attention with its scale, choreography, styling and execution. Seonghwa proves he is an ace on the dance floor. He is on the floor with a female troupe, which matches the yin and yang philosophy of the song. He matches their steps to perfection, and is a joy to watch. Kudos to director Choonchic who has also edited the video. Though a lot happens in every frame, the flow is seamless.
‘Skin’ starts off a song that talks about desire and self-exploration. ATEEZ member Seonghwa shifts between two personas in the MV - one of an alpha male, while the other one is more gender fluid. The prominent makeup towards the end will remind you of DPR Ian’s ‘Don’t Go Insane’ and Jackson Wang’s ‘Come Alive’.
Talking about the musical arrangement, there is a heavy use of synth with the drum sounds adding to the first part. Seonghwa’s vocals stand out as the song progresses but you are hooked to his dance moves and expressions in the video. ‘Skin’ is a good start for Seonghwa from ATEEZ in 2026 and leaves us excited about future songs/albums from the band.
