Anupam Kher Plans Old-School Celebrations For ‘Tanvi: The Great’
Anupam Kher’s directorial “Tanvi: The Great” got good reviews for its performances and nuanced story-telling, even though it didn't make any waves at the box-office, it stayed steady. Now the film has completed 25 weeks in theatres, and the actor-filmmaker has decided to host an event to celebrate this occasion.
He told Variety India, “In my early years in movies in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, there were a few celebrations every film personality looked forward to. One of the most special among them was the ‘Silver Jubilee’ or 100 days celebration of a film. Those occasions were about gratitude, togetherness and celebrating cinema as a family.”

Nowadays, film celebration parties are far and few with the exception of a few premiere shows and events. With very few films running for weeks in theatres, the tradition of ‘jubilee celebrations’ has also faded. Anupam told us that with “Tanvi: The Great: completing 25 weeks in limited theatres, he felt it was the right moment to revive that spirit.
A party will be held on March 22 to cherish the success of this film. Anupam has invited all his near and dear ones for this happy occasion. The actor was also a part of the movie playing Colonel Pratap Raina, who was Tanvi’s grandfather. Shubhangi Dutt played the role of Tanvi, who has a dream to salute the Indian flag at the Siachen Glacier.
It narrated her journey from Delhi to Lansdowne in Uttarakhand, which is the home of the Garhwal regiment of the Indian Army. Battling immense skepticism about her skills, Tanvi decides to fulfill her father’s dream.
