Anil Kapoor Approached to Play a Cop in Milap Zaveri’s ‘Uniform,’ Starring Harshvardhan Rane

“Uniform,” which marks the reunion of director Milap Zaveri and actor Harshvardhan Rane after “Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat,” is set to go on floors in May. While the fresh pair of Rane and Akanksha Sharma is expected to be one of the USPs of the movie, Anil Kapoor might join the cast if all goes according to plan.

The high-octane action drama is expected to be a typical Milap Zaveri-styled massy commercial cinema like his previous work “Satyameva Jayate.” However, the seasoned actor, Anil Kapoor, known for his screen authority, has been approached to play the role of a cop. Kapoor has played the role of a cop many times and won the audience over, each time.

In his illustrious career of close to five decades, the veteran actor has played the role of a cop seven times. In fact, the actor showed versatility in these characters, which were filled with mixed emotions and genres including drama, action and comedy.  Here’s the list:

Kasam

The actor donned the role of a cop for the first time in 1988’s “Kasam,” where he goes undercover to infiltrate a drug ring. Directed by Umesh Mehra, the film also starred Poonam Dhillon, Kader Khan, Pran and Aruna Irani among others.

Ram Lakhan

In the very next year, he played a cop in Subhash Ghai’s “Ram Lakhan.” His character, Lakhan, is a fun-loving person who turns corrupt after becoming an officer to seek revenge for his father’s death.

Race

In the Abbas-Mustan directorial, Kapoor plays a fruit-eating and witty Inspector Robert “RD” D'Costa in the action-thriller franchise. The film also featured Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif.

No Problem

In 2010, Anil portrayed the character of a comedy-driven Senior Inspector Arjun Singh, who attempts to catch criminals in chaotic situations.

Race 2

The actor reprised his role of Inspector RD in Abbas Mustan’s franchise film, which co-starred Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Shootout At Wadala

In the gangster drama, Anil played ACP Afaaque Baaghran, whose character was based on ACP Isaque Bagwan. The Sanjay Gupta-directed film starred John Abraham, Manoj Bajpayee and Sonu Sood among others. Based on the book Dongri to Dubai: Six Decades of the Mumbai Mafia by Hussain Zaidi.

Malang

In Mohit Suri’s romantic action-thriller, AK played the role of Inspector Anjaney Agashe, a rugged and rule-breaking cop with a dark past. His impressive performance garnered appreciation among the cinegoers. The movie also featured Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani and Kunal Kemmu in main roles.
