Amid Threats To Ranveer Singh, Rohit Shetty, FWICE Writes Letter To CM Devendra Fadnavis: ‘Fear Is Affecting Shooting Schedules’
While the conversation around Bollywood has always been box-office numbers and new releases, it has now shifted to actors' and filmmakers’ safety, as they have received multiple threats in recent weeks.
Amid this, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has formally stepped in and written an official letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis seeking an urgent meeting to address the security concerns around the Hindi film industry.

"In recent days, several eminent and renowned personalities from the film, television, and digital media industry have reportedly received threats and have been subjected to alarming security scares. These incidents have not only caused distress to the individuals directly concerned but have also created an atmosphere of anxiety and uncertainty across the entire industry," the letter from FWICE stated.
The film body shared that repeated incidents raise questions about whether the available or given security is adequate.
"The recurring nature of such threats, whether direct or indirect, poses a serious question on the safety framework required for those associated with this vital sector," added FWICE.
This appeal from the film union comes after a spate of incidents in the film industry. While earlier, five rounds were shot at Rohit Shetty’s residence on January 31, recently Aayush Sharma received a threat mail, and Ranveer Singh was sent a threatening WhatsApp voice note.
"FWICE represents scores of workers, including artists, technicians, daily wage earners, backstage workers, and numerous other skilled and unskilled professionals who form the backbone of the entertainment industry. Any threat to prominent members of the fraternity inevitably impacts thousands of workers whose livelihoods depend on the smooth and secure functioning of production. The prevailing environment of fear is beginning to affect shooting schedules, production planning, and overall morale within the industry," the letter further read.
"We humbly request that this matter be formally registered with your good office and that appropriate steps be considered to strengthen preventive security mechanisms, enhance coordination with law enforcement agencies, and reassure the industry of the government’s continued support and protection," the letter concluded.
