‘Vaazha 2’ Enters the 100-Crore Club; Second Malayalam Movie to Get There After ‘Aadu 3’

“Vaazha 2,” headlined by social media influencers including Hashir H, Alan Bin Siraj, Ajin Joy and Vinayak V, has emerged as a global blockbuster at the box office.

The coming-of-age comedy drama has grossed ₹103.52 crore in seven days at the worldwide box office and has become the second Malayalam film after Jayasurya’s “Aadu 3” to enter the 100-crore club this year.

With the postponement of the Tovino Thomas and Kayadu Lohar-starrer “Pallichattambi,” the Savin Sa-directed film now enjoys another open week at the ticket windows. This gives “Vaazha 2” more time to potentially surpass “Aadu 3” (120 crore) and become the biggest Malayalam grosser of the year.

Mollywood is experiencing a golden phase, with back-to-back blockbusters and upcoming biggies like “Patriot” and “Drishyam 3.”

Also starring Vijay Babu, Aju Varghese, Bijukuttan and filmmaker Alphonse Puthren in supporting roles, “Vaazha 2” is written by Vipin Das.

Talking about the technical crew, the editing of the film is done by Kannan Mohan, while the camera is cranked by Akhil Lailasuran.

The music of the film is composed by nine composers, including Malayali Monkeys, Rajat Prakash, Parvatish Pradeep, Rzee, Muthu, Arcado, Jazir Muhammed, Ashwin Aryan and Electronic Kili.

It is bankrolled by Vipin Das, Harris Desom, Sahu Garapati, P. B. Anish and Adarsh Narayan under the banners of Imagin Cinemas, WBTS Productions, Shine Screens, Icon Studios and Signature Studios.
