Actor Couples You Didn’t Know Were Married

Actors meet on set and fall in love. Some end up marrying, there are many actor couple sin Bollywood, and most are known -- Kartina-Vicky, Alia- Ranbir, Deepika-Ranveer, Kareena-Saif. Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda recently tied the knot and it was a news event. But Indian cinema has other actor couples who are like. A best-kept secret.  From character actors, OTT stars and theatre veterans who have been in the Industry, and together for years.  Taking a look at lesser-known married actor couples, 

Rasika Dugal and Mukul Chadda
Known for playing Beena Tripathi in "Mirzapur" and having a leading role in Delhi Crime, Rasika Dugal is one of OTT’s most bankable performers. Mukul Chadda brought Jagdeep Chadda to life in The Office India and has built an impressive body of work across many genres. Married since 2010, the two wrote, shot, and acted in the short film "Banana Bread" together during the first lockdown, and followed it up with Fairy Folk, their first full-length feature as a couple.

Murali Sharma and Ashwini Kalsekar
Murali Sharma has made a career out of being the most dangerous person in the room in Main Hoon Na, but also being the funny one in "Golmaal." Ashwini Kalsekar has grabbed our attention in "Golmaal Returns," "Andhadhun," and "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2." They met on the sets of "Apaharan" in 2005, married in 2009, and have played the bickering Munni and Sawant across the "Golmaal" franchise.

Seema Pahwa and Manoj Pahwa
Seema Pahwa directed "Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi," won a Filmfare for it, and has also played the screen mother in everything from "Bareilly Ki Barfi" to "Gangubai Kathiawadi." Manoj Pahwa has performed in many movies like "Dil Dhadakne Do," "Jigra," etc. Both debuted on Hum Log in 1984, met through theatre, and married in 1988.

Ayesha Raza and Kumud Mishra
Ayesha Raza has played some of Hindi cinema’s most memorable mothers in "Veere Di Wedding," "Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl," and "Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety." Kumud Mishra has been quietly devastating in "Rockstar," "Article 15," and "Tanu Weds Manu Returns." They got married in 2008, and Ayesha is also the grandniece of legendary performer Zohra Sehgal.

Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub has played some of the most memorable supporting roles in Hindi cinema in "Raanjhanaa," "Tanu Weds Manu Returns," "Article 15," "NH10," and many more movies. Rasika Agashe is a Marathi theatre and film actress known for her nuanced work in "Three of Us" and "Court." Both trained at the National School of Drama and married in 2007.

Priya Bapat and Umesh Kamat
Priya Bapat took home the Maharashtra State Award for Best Actress for her performance in "Kaksparsh" and has since become one of Marathi cinema’s most respected names. Umesh Kamat is a celebrated actor across Marathi television and theatre. They first crossed paths at a film premiere when both were in the 10th grade, married in 2011, and now set to share the screen after 12 years in "Bin Lagnachi Goshta."

Urmila Kothare and Adinath Kothare
Urmila Kothare is one of Marathi cinema’s most recognised actresses because of her work in movies like "Duniyadari," "Mala Aai Vhhaychy!," and "Ti Saddhya Kay Karte." Adinath Kothare is an actor and director known for the Timepass franchise and Hampi. They have appeared together in movies like "Dubhang," directed by Mahesh Kothare, and Anvatt.

Shweta Tripathi and Chaitanya Sharma
Shweta Tripathi played Golu on Mirzapur and delivered one of the decade’s most affecting performances in Masaan. She was also known for her role in TVF Tripling. Chaitanya Sharma, known by his stage name SlowCheeta, is the rapper who featured in Gully Boy alongside Ranveer Singh. They met while substituting for other actors in a Delhi theatre performance and got married in 2018.

Anand Tiwari and Angira Dhar
Anand Tiwari played the third guy in Go Goa Gone, and in more movies, like "Aisha," "Udaan," and his performance in the web series "Bandish Bandits." He has also established himself as a director; his debut film, "Love Per Square Foot," was a Netflix original. Angira Dhar starred in that same film alongside Vicky Kaushal, having previously made her mark in "Bang Baaja Baaraat." They got married in 2021.

Atul Kulkarni has won two National Awards, for his performance in "Hey Ram" and "Chandni Bar," and also wrote the screenplay for "Laal Singh Chaddha." Geetanjali Kulkarni has delivered some of India's independent cinema’s most precise performances in "Court," "Gullak" and "Taj Mahal" 1989. Both met at the National School of Drama in 1993 and got married in 1996. They have never appeared in a film alongside each other yet.

Manav Vij has built a formidable career across "Udta Punjab," "Gunjan Saxena" and "Laal Singh Chaddha." Meher Vij won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in "Secret Superstar" and is equally known for her role in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. They met on the sets of the TV show "Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil" and got married in 2009.

Fahadh Faasil and Nazriya Nazim
Fahadh Faasil is one of Malayalam cinema’s defining actors of his generation, from working in Bangalore Days and Joji to Pushpa and Aavesham. Nazriya Nazim won two Kerala State Awards for Ohm Shanthi Oshaana and Bangalore Days, and produced Aavesham under their joint production company Fahadh Faasil and Friends. The film crossed 100 crore. They met on the set of Bangalore Days in 2013 and got married in 2014. Both are now set to appear together in an untitled Suriya film directed by Jithu Madhavan.

Kay Kay Menon and Nivedita Bhattacharya
Kay Kay Menon has delivered some of Indian cinema’s most intense performances across "Black Friday," "Haider," "Gulaal," "Special Ops" and "Farzi." Nivedita Bhattacharya is a theatre and television actress known for her work in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki and Bambai Meri Jaan. Both met through the theatre and got married in 2002. They both were seen together in "Bambai Meri Jaan," directed by Shujaat Saudagar.

What ties them all together is not just that they are couples who have not been in the limelight because of their weddings, but also the fact that they are known so much because of their body of work in the industry.
